Submissions
1M1 Books is open for submissions with an emphasis on adult fiction, young adult fiction, compilations of short fiction stories and historical or biographical non-fiction and reprints of public domain works. As we are a small imprint we initially hope to find two independent books to publish in our first year.
Manuscripts
We are not considering poetry, plays, scripts, screenplays, picture books, activity or poster books, individual short stories, technical manuals, cookbooks, how-to guides, travel guides or educational textbooks.
- Submissions should be from citizens or residents of Australia and/or New Zealand.
- We can only consider one manuscript per person at a time.
- Junior-fiction and middle-grade manuscripts should be between 10,000 and 80,000 words. Adult and young-adult manuscripts should be between 40,000 and 120,000 words. There is no word count requirement for graphic novels.
- Due to the large volume of submissions, we are unable to provide individual editorial advice.
- Hard copy submissions will not be considered.
Submissions
If you do not meet the above guidelines, your manuscript will not be considered. Qualifying Submissions only can be sent to: info@1m1 books.com.au
It takes approximately three months for submissions to be considered, and it may be longer depending on the volume of submissions. You will be advised by email when your submission has been considered.
As a small publisher we are unable to respond to emails requesting updates on the progress of your book through our system.
If we are interested in your work we will contact you by email to discuss the next stage of bringing your work to life.
